Love isn’t easy. It’s not always sweet. It’s not pleasure, though it can contain pleasure. It’s a kind of sacred violence. A soft catastrophe. It reshapes the soul. It shatters ego and demands presence. It is, to me, closer to grief than it is to joy, not because it isn’t beautiful, but because it requires surrender. That’s what I tried to capture in this painting: love not as performance or fantasy, but as something divine in its undoing. A lover not as a dream, but as a wound that teaches you how to stay, how to evolve. Eros as a gospel which shows you the divine. - Antonia xx
