La Llorona

This piece was the one that took the longest to complete. There is something incredibly feminine about La Llorona to me; there is a strength to it that is very matriarchal, very intense. It is even melancholic, but a kind of melancholia that is typical of where I come from. In Brazil, we make saudade, sadness, and pain feel like the most beautiful feeling in the world. I think there is something very feminine and strong about that, that may go unnoticed by the outside world. All of the beauty inside of the pain. - Antonia x
